Vacancy: Senior Research Officer (Treasury Section)
The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Research Officer for the Treasury Section at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

Subject to the successful completion of six-month probationary period, satisfactory medical check and background verification, the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment, inclusive of the probation period. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee. The standard hours of work for this full-time role are 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus, provident fund provisions and gratuity provisions when service length is sufficient. The position encompasses a starting salary in the range of Rs.105,013 to Rs.149,303 per month will be considered, with a security clearance supplement payable of up to Rs.100,000 per month.
The selection panel may also recommend a merit list of applicants who may be approached to temporarily fill the position when the incumbent is absent.
The successful applicant will be required to have permission to work in India. However, there is no requirement to have or obtain an Australian security clearance, although this is desirable. Applicants with a current Australian security clearance to Protected level (or above) should state this in their application.

About the Position
Research duties
- Contribute to regular economic reporting by monitoring economic press, and attend and report on meetings, workshops or conferences as required.
- Carry out research and analysis of developments in the Indian economy, as directed.
- Contribute to regular Treasury reporting on the Indian economy and reporting by other sections within the High Commission as directed.
- Liaise with relevant counterparts in the Indian Government as well as with counterparts in other countries' missions in New Delhi.
- Maintain relationships with other key contacts including in the private sector, think tanks and academia.
Administrative duties
- Work closely with the Minister-Counsellor and Treasury in Canberra to prepare and manage programs for visiting missions from or to Australia;
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the section including processing of payments, initiating procurement and fulfilling financial reporting requirements in accordance with established policies and procedures;
- Assist in managing the internal budget including monitoring expenditure and keeping appropriate financial records;
- Coordinate travel arrangements for the Minister-Counsellor and Treasury officers;
- Manage the Minister-Counsellor's diary including making appointments and arranging programs and travel as required;
- Carry out other administrative duties including electronic record keeping, data management and liaison with Treasury administration in Canberra.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills; prior office management and financial administration experience would be an advantage.
- Highly developed communication skills; a strong command of English is required. Fluency in Hindi is also valued.
- Well developed computer skills including in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and conducting internet-based research.
- Strong interpersonal, representational and networking skills and an understanding of the roles and structures of India’s key economic agencies would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of and ability to convey clearly developments in the Indian economy; and tertiary qualifications in economics or a similar discipline such as politics, business or public policy are highly desirable.
