Subject to the successful completion of up to a six month probationary period, satisfactory medical check and background verification, the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment, inclusive of the probation period. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.

The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus, provident fund provisions and gratuity provisions when service length is sufficient. The position encompasses a starting salary of 101, 984 per month.

Operating under the ACIAR Act 1982, ACIAR is part of Australia’s aid program, fostering international agricultural research and development partnerships that will result in reduced poverty, more sustainable agricultural systems and greater food security.

ACIAR’s program is developed in the context of the broader Australian Government's aid program and implemented in close collaboration with relevant Australian government agencies, especially the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and with research partners in Australia and overseas. About the Position
To provide scientific, technical and policy support services, maintain formal government contact, public relations, communications and information dissemination activities, in-country management of education and training activities, provide administrative and management support services and deputise for the Regional Manager, South Asia as required.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
 Brief project personnel, senior government officials and collaborating organizations on ACIAR policies and procedures.
 Monitor and advise on key developments in agricultural policy and research sector in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
 Establish and maintain links with senior personnel in key central and local research institutions to ensure development and facilitation of ACIAR's projects and represent ACIAR at meetings and functions.
 Prepare briefs and analyse key information on issues pertaining to agriculture affecting ACIAR’s collaborative research program in the region.
 Support and facilitate sign-off of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs)/Memoranda of Subsidiary Arrangements (MSAs) and other project documents and contracts.
 To provide programmatic support by undertaking and reporting on M & E visits, organising project development visits and reviews and facilitates transfer of project funds to partner institutions.
 Lead role in production of communication and publicity materials.
 Provide interpretation/translation support as required.

Position Description – Assistant Manager
 To manage ACIAR’s postgraduate training program and research management program in South Asia and organise overseas or third country training of South Asian participants.
 To take the lead role in logistic arrangements for in-country training courses and workshops.
 To manage the day-to-day running of the ACIAR Office, including supervision of the ACIAR Office Administrator.

Qualifications/Experience
1. A Post-Graduate with experience of 5-6 years in management support.
2. Demonstrated expertise and achievement in program support or management and review of programs/activities.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with producing materials for external and internal audiences.
4. Research and analytical skills with a practical focus.
5. Sound judgment, problem solving skills, initiative and result orientation.
6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach others working in a small team environment.

Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated expertise and achievement in program support or management and review of programs/activities.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with producing materials for external and internal audiences
3. Project management skills with supporting skills in finance management, contract management, communication, negotiation and representation.
