Vacancy: Driver / Messenger
The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Driver / Messenger with the DFAT section at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

Subject to the successful completion of up to a six month probationary period, satisfactory medical check and background verification, the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment, inclusive of the probation period. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus, provident fund provisions and gratuity provisions when service length is sufficient. The position encompasses a starting salary of Rs15, 716 per month.

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
About the position
Under general supervision of the Transport Officer, the position will be occupied with tasks related to the High Commission’s transport provision and to assist with duties as allocated.
The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Transport High Commission staff, visitors and officials as directed.
2. Maintain official vehicles in a clean and road worthy condition.
3. Inform Transport Officer of any defects and repairs required.
4. Maintain accurate vehicle log and records.
5. Assist with arrivals and departures of officials.
6. Collate program booklets for official visits.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential
1. Valid commercial driving license to drive anywhere in India with five years of experience.
2. Basic computer skills.
3. Basic knowledge of English and Hindi.
4. One year office / administrative experience.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated ability and experience as a driver for foreign government or non-government organizations in India.
2. Demonstrated experience and skills in administrative work. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
