VACANCY: POOL DRIVER

The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Driver.

The job description for the position is attached. Also attached are the selection criteria that the Interviewing Committee will use to assess applicants’ suitability for the position. Applicants must address each of the selection criteria. Applications that do not specifically address the selection criteria will not be considered. Subject to the successful completion of a three-month probationary period the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment. The contract maybe extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.

The commencing salary for the position will be Rupees 19,710 in the range Rupees 19,710 to Rupees 22,550 per month. The package includes annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus and provident fund provisions.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Highly effective and safe driving skills, a good driving record and experience driving senior officials and VIPs. Good judgment skills in handling unforeseen issues or difficult driving situations.

2. Good knowledge of Delhi and surrounding areas and a demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps and layouts.

3. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English and Hindi.

4. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work well in a team environment. Flexibility and adaptability.

5. Valid commercial driving license.

6. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Transport authorized passengers, as directed by the Transport Officer.

2. Ensure proper maintenance of official vehicles by:

 Keeping vehicles clean and tidy through normal washing and polishing.
 Servicing with gasoline, lubricants, coolant, checking battery and performing minor maintenance tasks and repairs.
 Reporting to the Transport Officer any defects and repairs required in order to keep vehicles in proper road condition and ensuring that repairs are performed.
 Maintaining accurate log and vehicle records.

3. Assist with arrivals and departures of official guests and visitors at airports and railway stations.

4. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transport Officer.
