Australian string sensation to rock India

After wowing audiences across Australia and Asia, DeepBlue - part band, part orchestra and part theatre - is in India for the first time. The group will perform in New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai as part of Oz Fest, the biggest Australian cultural festival ever staged in India.

“These wonderful young musicians combine a wide repertoire of music, with exquisite playing, precision moves, circus antics and immersive visuals to create a very exciting show” said Dr Lachlan Strahan, Australian Deputy High Commissioner.

DeepBlue is supported by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). In addition to their performances in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai, they will also conduct workshops in Delhi and Mumbai.

Co-producer and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Professor, Andy Arthurs describes a DeepBlue show as a social night that is full of fun. “In all DeepBlue shows, audiences experience fantastic emotional performances from energetic musicians. We hope that everyone will have a great night out together”. DeepBlue plays a mix of Radiohead, Corelli, Gotye and DeepBlue originals remixed with lush strings, big beats and rock ‘n’ roll.

Since their inception, thanks to help from extensive QUT research, DeepBlue have constantly inquired into the desires of their audience. Initially, inviting their fans to text message their dreams and song requests, DeepBlue now get to know their audience via their ground-breaking web app, the Interactive Show Programme. Audiences use their G3 and Wi-Fi enabled devices (smart phones or iPads) to access the Interactive Show Programmme that is full of info about DeepBlue’s music, and also enables audience members to confidentially share identity-forming moments of their lives during the show.

Since 2006 DeepBlue has worked and performed with over 5,000 young musicians across Australia in YoungBlue workshops and holiday programs. In collaboration with Dhararvi Rocks, Acorn Foundation and blueFROG, DeepBlue musicians will run workshops and performances with children from local orphanages in Mumbai.
