Australian theatre at India's first festival of story telling
An Australian theatre performance for children is coming to enthrall audiences at the Kahani Storytelling Festival, India’s first festival of story-telling on 17 18 November 2012.
Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr Peter Varghese, described Children's Cheering Carpet: Saltbush as “an interactive journey through the culture and landscape of Aboriginal Australia, celebrated through live dance, music, song and stories.” He encouraged parents from the New Delhi region to bring their children along for one of the five weekend performances.
The Saltbush narrative centres on the journey of two friends from different Aboriginal backgrounds as they travel across Australia’s diverse landscape discovering rivers, cities, deserts and the sea.
Saltbush is an absorbing educational performance piece presented through the use of a touch-sensitive floor and infra-red imaging technology that triggers images and sound. Children in the audience will also be invited to explore, play and dance with the performers as the landscape unfolds around them.
Saltbush is aimed at children under 8 years of age and will be performed on 17 November (1-2 pm & 3-4 pm) and 18 November (11 am - 12 pm, 1-2 pm & 3 4 pm) at Kahani Storytelling Festival, Pathways School, Sector 100, NOIDA 201301. (Entry: Free for all)
Children's Cheering Carpet: Saltbush will be presented at the Kahani Storytelling Festival by Insite Arts and Teamwork Productions, as part of Oz Fest.
