Hat trick for THE AUSSIE BBQ in India!
THE AUSSIE BBQ will fire up for the third consecutive year in India with four new Aussie artists this November.
The psych-tinged alt-rockers Cloud Control, singer-songwriter Appleonia, garage-rock act Money for Rope, and dance deconstructionists Peking Duk are all set to tour four cities across India– Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi.
All four bands will take the spotlight at the Kolkata and Bangalore editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, while music lovers in Mumbai and Delhi will also get a chance to catch the bands at special gigs in their cities.
THE AUSSIE BBQ is the biggest showcase of Australian music in India. Over the last two years, it has brought some phenomenal Australian acts like Karnivool, Jinja Safari, Big Scary and Spoonbill to India for performances at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, and for some memorable club sets as well.
Now 2014 promises more scorching live performances by some of the best Indie acts from Down Under.
The AUSSIE BBQ is presented by Australia's contemporary music export initiative SOUNDS AUSTRALIA, who are partnering with powerhouse Indian music promoter Only Much Louder. It’s supported by the Australian Government through the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Cloud Control
Australian indie rockers Cloud Control shot into the global indie music spotlight with their critically-acclaimed 2013 album Dream Cave. They exist in a dreamy, organic soundscape that has earned them much praise and seen them perform alongside the likes of Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend and 2010 Bacardi NH7 Weekender alumni The Magic Numbers.
Appleonia
Appleonia is the singer/songwriter moniker of Jessica Chapnik Kahn. The Sydney-based Argentinian makes music that's equal parts folksy and cinematic, the latter quality being attributable to her work as an actor and director. After beginning her career as a touring keyboardist, Kahn made an AFI Award and ARIA Fine Arts Award nominated soundtrack for the Australian film The Square. This album was followed by the birth of the Appleonia moniker, under which she released an album titled 'OH' earlier this year. Fans of Feist and Regina Spektor will find an interesting variation of that cozy and picturesque sounds in Appleonia's music.
Money for Rope
Melbourne’s Money For Rope aren’t just your run-of-the-mill rock band. Having cut their teeth on the live circuit alongside some of Australia’s edgiest groups, the trio know how to ignite that ferocious energy which you only get from an A-grade rock and roll show. Fusing garage grittiness with the rollicking pace of surf rock music, Money For Rope have carved out a great space for themselves amongst other Australian rock and roll bands who have dedicated countless hours to fine-tuning their live shows and records.
Peking Duk
Much like The Aston Shuffle who played the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune back in 2012, this electronic duo - made up of Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles - are rising stars in Australia’s well regarded electronic music scene. Their track ‘High’ featuring Nicole Millar has exploded, achieving double platinum status on the ARIA charts and sending their live show ticket sales into a frenzy.
