THE AUSSIE BBQ is back with great acts from the land down under

THE AUSSIE BBQ is returning to India! This year will feature four Aussie acts touring to four cities - Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi NCR, Aussie music industry leaders at Nokia Music Connects and Aussie-Indian songwriting collaborations.

THE AUSSIE BBQ will fire up with the infectious pop beats and harmonies of Brisbane’s Hey Geronimo, a stimulating audiovisual treat by genre-bending Sampology, an alternative pop sensation in the form of Kate Miller-Heidke, and some serious glitch hop (injected with a fat dose of psychedelia and bass) from the legendary Spoonbill.

Kate Miller-Heidke said, “I've always wanted to come to India, and am so excited to be playing shows over there! I'm looking forward to writing with an Indian musician too - I love Bollywood music and Bhangra, and I also love singing those high ornate melodies. I think the trip will be an unforgettable experience.”

Spoonbill said, “I am really excited to be heading back to India to share my music with eager ears. India has such a vibrant atmosphere and I'm looking forward to soaking in the surrounding influences and writing tunes with some excellent Indian musicians.”

The Aussie bands will bookend their tour at India’s ‘happiest music festival’ the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR, featuring some of the most exciting artists from India and around the world.

THE AUSSIE BBQ will also be a vehicle for those looking to do business with the Australian music industry. Aussie industry heavyweights are fronting up for India’s leading music and digital platform Nokia Music Connects: The Indian Music Forum, Mumbai.

This year a new element will be added to the tour with APRA AMCOS ‘SongHubs’ sessions where Australian writers will collaborate with Indian artists to generate new music for local and international markets. The SongHub sessions will take place on 26 and 27 November at ENZY Studios in Mumbai, under guidance of international Composer/Arranger/Producer Andrew T Mackay.

THE AUSSIE BBQ TOUR, India is supported by the Australian Government through Oz Fest India, the Australia International Cultural Council and the Australia-India Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Australia's contemporary music export initiative SOUNDS AUSTRALIA are partnering with powerhouse Indian music promoter Only Much Louder to present THE AUSSIE BBQ - the biggest showcase of Australian music outside of Australia.
