Australian cooking sensation Gary Mehigan is back for Oz Fest 2013
MasterChef Australia judge, Gary Mehigan, is returning to India for another round of culinary adventures, as part of Australia’s cultural festival Oz Fest. Gary will be out and about in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Jodhpur.
“I’m so excited to be returning to India for my third trip” said Gary. “The sights, sounds and tastes of India have stayed with me since my first trip to the saffron land last year as part of Oz Fest.”
“I have been so inspired by Indian cuisine and eager to learn more, but also to share my passion for Australia and the amazing food we have to offer. I am secretly in love with Indian breads, parantha, dosa, naan, the list goes on! I am proud, once again, to be an ambassador for Oz Fest."
On his experience last year as an Oz Fest ambassador, Gary added, “We couldn’t have asked for a better response from the public, they love Masterchef, and it was unexpected but heartwarming.”
Delhi will see Gary as a special guest at ‘A Great Southern BBQ’, featuring a BBQ menu including Australian Sanger lamb, Australian wines and beer, and lots of fun games and activities for children. Gary will conduct a cooking demonstration and will also be joined by Fisher & Paykel brand ambassador, Ritu Dalmia, to judge a few cooking competitions for the invited guests.
The event will take place on 20 October 2013 at the Australian High Commission and is presented as part of Oz Fest in collaboration with the Australian New Zealand Indian Business Association (ANZIBA), Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), Sanger Australia, La Carne Cuts, Fisher & Paykel, Brindco and Fosters.
In Chennai, Gary will go head to head with the Executive Sous Chef of the Hyatt Regency, Chef Gopi, in a BBQ lamb duel. Invited guests will be treated to the gastronomic delights of Mulwarra Australian lamb and wine. The event is presented in partnership with the Hyatt Regency Chennai, Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and Mulwarra.
As part of his Chennai sojourn, Gary will be visiting the Royal Enfield Factory and hitting the road on the new Continental GT, a café racer recently launched.
In Mumbai, Gary will be signing books for fans at Crosswords Bookstore in In-Orbit Mall, Malad between 6 pm and 7 pm on 25 October.
Gary’s visit builds on relationships established during Oz Fest 2012 and his travels will be filmed for his new television series pilot – “Far Flung with Gary Mehigan.”
