Gary and George Unplugged in India

Australian cooking sensations and MasterChef Australia judges, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris, commenced their tour of India in style, walking the red carpet on Sunday night at the premiere of Australian cricket comedy, SAVE YOUR LEGS!, as part of the Mumbai Film Festival and Oz Fest, the biggest Australian cultural festival ever staged in India.

“We’re really excited to be in India to learn more about the many flavours and cuisines this incredible country has to offer”, Gary said.

“We’re also looking forward to experiencing India, soaking up the culture and meeting people from all walks of life.”
MasterChef Australia has cooked up a storm with audiences young and old addicted to the reality television phenomenon.

Oz Fest is bringing Gary and George out of your living room and into your lives for an ‘unplugged in India’ tour. Watch out for details, including special guest appearances at Oz Fest events.
Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Peter Varghese, said the two chefs are wonderful ambassadors for both Oz Fest and Australia.

“Through their cooking and passion for experimenting with cuisines from around the world, Gary and George epitomise contemporary Australian culture—creative, sophisticated and diverse.”

“Their world-class recipes also provide the perfect showcase for Australian produce, whether it be our fresh fruit and vegetables, meats or fine wines.”

Gary and George will be out and about in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Get down to Landmark bookstore, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, from 5 pm-6 pm on 25 October to meet the guys and snap up a signed copy of their book. In Mumbai, the two chefs made a special guest appearance at Godrej Nature’s Basket, signed books for fans at Crosswords Bookstore and judged a cooking competition between top students at the Kohinoor Institute of Hotel Management. Today, Gary and George will cheer on Cricket Australia’s National Indigenous cricket team during their match against the MIG Club cricket team.

In Delhi, Gary and George will explore Old Delhi’s spicy and sweet delights and interact at special events with renowned Indian chefs, including Fisher & Paykel Brand Ambassador, Ritu Dalmia, on the company’s ‘Social Kitchen’. Gary and George will put aspiring school students through their paces in a children’s workshop as part of the tour.

In Bengaluru, they will meet with acclaimed chef, Abhijit Saha, and sample his famous cuisine at top restaurants, The Caperberry and Fava.

Gary and George are proud Oz Fest Ambassadors, along with rising Australian Bollywood star Pallavi Sharda and Australian cricket great, Brett Lee.
