New Hindi programs launched on Australian TV
Australia's public broadcasting television station, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), has launched a series of new Hindi language programs.
The programs have been made possible with the strong support of the Indian government and the Indian community groups in Sydney.
Mr Peter Varghese, Australia's High Commissioner to India said “this is a great initiative to improve the Australia experience for our Hindi-speaking citizens and visitors to Australia.
“SBS television offers multiple language programs to ensure all Australians, regardless of the language they speak at home, are able to share the news and public discourse of Australia.”
"I am sure the addition of Hindi programming will be welcomed by Indians settled in Australia, and will help new-comers to adjust to the Australian way of life while staying connecting with news back home."
SBS announced the initiative at a function held in Sydney, which was attended by Ms Sujatha Singh, Indian High Commissioner to Australia.
The initiative was well received by members of the Indian business community in Australia, present at the event.
