The People of Australia
Hindi translation of Australia’s multicultural policy now available online
The Hindi translation of Australia’s multicultural policy The People of Australia is now available online.
“Australian society has multiculturalism at its core. The many generations of migrants who have made Australia their home have positively shaped our national identity and contributed to the story of our nation”, said Mr Peter Varghese, Australia’s High Commissioner to India.
“The Hindi translation of the The People of Australia reflects the importance of the Indian community in Australia and the community’s broad contribution to Australian life. I hope Hindi-language readers will enjoy reading the policy”, he added.
The Australian Government launched its multicultural policy on 16 February 2011 and has translated it into several languages, including Hindi.
The policy recognises the diversity of Australian society and reinforces Australia’s commitment to multiculturalism, fairness and inclusion. It is about all Australians, and for all Australians.
Australia’s population includes migrants from around 200 countries. More than 43 per cent of Australians either were born overseas themselves or have one parent who was born overseas. Migrants have brought with them language skills and other capabilities that are valuable in today’s global economy and workforce.
