AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST COMEDY COMPETITION IS BACK IN INDIA!

After enjoying huge success at Oz Fest 2013 in New Delhi, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is back to search for India’s best comedy talent with RAW Comedy India 2.
The winner will be awarded a trip to Australia to perform in the RAW Comedy Grand Final at the 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, one of the three biggest comedy festivals in the world.
In 2012, New Delhi’s Neeti Palta won the competition, impressing judges with her slick comedy style. Neeti flew to Australia and wowed Melbourne audiences with her feature spot in the national RAW Comedy Grand Final at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
This month RAW Comedy workshops and heats for contestants will be held in three cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi. Finalists from each city will compete at the National final on 23 February in Delhi. The ultimate winner of the competition will be given the opportunity to travel to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia and perform.
Australian comedians Justin Hamilton and Kate McLennan will visit India to lead the workshops and host the competition. Justin Hamilton and Kate McLennan have significant experience as performers and as directors and collaborators. Both Justin and Kate have worked extensively not only as live performers but also as writers, on TV and radio, and in the booming online world of comedy podcasting.
RAW Comedy India 2 is presented by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in association with Teamwork Arts, as part of Oz Fest. It is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-India Council and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
