Australian High Commissioner appoints eighteen Alumni Ambassadors for 2017

Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Ms Harinder Sidhu, today appointed eighteen high profile Alumni Ambassadors to champion prestigious Australian Government Scholarships across the South Asia region.

This year’s group of Ambassadors—ten from India, and two each from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan—will visit leading research and higher education institutions in their respective countries and share their experiences of studying in Australia with students, faculty and administrators.

The Australia Awards-Endeavour Ambassadors Initiative recognises the valuable contribution of alumni in raising the profile of Australia as a high quality study destination.

Since the commencement of this initiative in 2014, Australia has appointed 83 Alumni Ambassadors from various academic institutions across India and South Asia. A new group of Ambassadors is appointed each year.

The Australia Awards-Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are an annual competitive Australian Government awards program for high-achieving students, researchers and professionals from around the world to study in Australia’s world-class education institutions or undertake a professional development program.
