ACT Legislative Assembly Election – 20 October 2012

The ACT Legislative Assembly election will be held on Saturday 20 October 2012.

The ACT Electoral Commission website www.elections.act.gov.au provides comprehensive information for ACT residents, whether they are in the ACT, interstate or overseas during the election period, about voting in the ACT Legislative Assembly election.

Applications for a postal vote may be made directly by a person online at the above website. An online application may also be made on behalf of another person with their authorisation.

Please note all overseas voting will be by postal vote only.

Essential dates for overseas voters for the 2012 ACT Legislative Assembly election to be held on 20 October.

Postal voting material, including a ballot paper, will be mailed to persons who have applied for a postal vote at their nominated postal address from 2 October onwards.

If ballot papers are to be posted overseas, an application must be received by the ACT Electoral Commission by no later than 5pm Canberra time on Friday 12 October. Otherwise, an application must be received no later than 5pm on Thursday 18 October. The ACT Electoral Commission will issue the postal vote and mail it to the postal address on the application.

Voters will need to return their ballot paper in the pre-printed envelope provided in their pack, with appropriate postage for return airmail to Australia.

In order to be admitted to the count, completed postal vote material must be posted no later than Saturday 20 October and must reach the ACT Electoral Commission by 5pm on 26 October.
