Great Moments in Science!!

Australia’s popular science communicator and author Dr Karl Kruszelnicki in India - 3-14 March 2008.

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, popular Australian science communicator and best-selling author, will be touring India during 3-14 March to share his thoughts on Great Moments in Science.

Dr Karl’s talks are a collection of stories related to Science, Engineering and Medicine/Surgery. His India tour program includes speaking at premier science centres, institutions and universities in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr John McCarthy, said that “Dr Karl’s tour will help broaden awareness of Australia’s science credentials in India, and supplement bilateral government initiatives in science and technology.”

“We are particularly pleased to present Dr Karl in India, a country with a great tradition of excellence in science. In Dr Karl, we have an outstanding science educator and commentator with a zeal for the fascinating world of science,” he added.

Dr Karl hosts a popular science television show on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He has authored more than 26 books, many of them acknowledged as the most popular science best-sellers in Australia. HarperCollins Publishers India is bringing out India editions of two of his books: Please Explain & Great Myth Conceptions.

Dr Karl is a Julius Sumner Miller Fellow at Sydney University. In addition to his degrees in Physics and Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, and Medicine and Surgery, he has studied several non-degree years at various universities in Astrophysics, Computer Science and Philosophy.

Among several honours bestowed on him, he received the Member of the Order of Australia Award in the 2006 Australia Day Honours list.

Dr Karl’s visit is being presented by the Australia-India Council, established by the Australian Government to promote linkages between Australia and India in a range of areas of mutual interest, including in the arts & culture; sport, the media, environment; heritage conservation; science & technology, community health, Australia & Indian studies and public policy (www.dfat.gov.au/aic).
