Indian Navy Sailor wins Australia-sponsored Essay Competition

An Indian Navy sailor, MCEAP Kuldeep Singh Thakur, has won the Australian-sponsored Peter Mitchell Essay Competition for 2005.

The Competition is held annually and is open to Navy personnel who are members of the Commonwealth holding the rank of Commander or below. The prize includes a cash award and a certificate.

“The entry into, and winning of, this competition by an Indian Navy sailor is further evidence of the expanding engagement between the Indian and Australian Navies” said the Defence Adviser at the Australian High Commission, Colonel Greg Baker, who presented the award to MCEAP Thakur in a ceremony at the naval establishment in Mumbai on 22 December.

MCEAP Thakur’s winning essay was titled ‘Generation X and Navy Workforce Planning’.
