Australia education roadshow launched

IDP Education Australia in association with The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) today launched the single largest interview exhibition in India for students planning to study in Australia.

The "Education Roadshow" will travel to seven cities across India, including Delhi (17 August), Chandigarh (19 August), Ahmedabad (21 August), Mumbai (23 August), Bangalore (26 August), Chennai (28 August) and Hyderabad (30 August).

"The initiative brings Austrade and IDP together for the first time. With Austrade lending support to IDP, their efforts in promoting Australian education have gained further credibility for students aspiring to study in Australia", said Mr Mike Moignard, Senior Trade Commissioner, Austrade.

"Australian education is fast becoming the preferred destination for Indian students because of its high quality, competitive tuition fees, affordable cost of living, and a safe and secure multi-cultural society," said Mr Moignard. "Austrade will lend full support in promoting this growing demand", he added.

The roadshow offers free-of-cost counselling for students. While pre-counselling sessions by IDP started several months ago, the roadshow will enable students to meet and interact with university representatives.

Students will be able to meet over 100 representatives from 40 Australian institutions. The representatives will counsel students on courses, application procedures and requirements for studying in Australia. A wide-range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses is being offered in areas such as marketing, business, IT, arts, vocational education, travel and tourism.

The roadshow is the first step towards an Austrade-IDP partnership in India and paves the path for a long-term association. This partnership will also add corporate value to the increasing demand for Australian education in India, while helping Australian institutions understand the dynamics of the Indian education industry.

Austrade is the Australian Government's export promotion agency that helps Australian companies and education providers win overseas business for their products and services by providing practical advice, market intelligence and ongoing support. In 2003-04, Austrade worked globally with 282 different education and training organisations to achieve export successes.

IDP Education is a non-profit company owned by Australian universities. It has seven branches in India that offer comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information to students wishing to study in Australia. IDP completes 10 years of its work in India.
