Australian environmental industry trade mission to India, March 3-16 2001

An Australian Environmental Industry Trade Mission will visit India to address some of India’s healthcare and environmental concerns, through seminars and business meetings involving Indian and Australian industry and government authorities.

The mission will visit Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad, from 3 and 16 March.

One participant, Brisbane-based AWS Clinical Waste, offer sanitation services to address this serious healthcare threat. Other Australian companies showcasing their innovative environmental services and healthcare expertise include:

Omnipol, an Adelaide-based plastic recycling company;
CSIRO, which will present ground water capabilities;
and Sydney-based Farnow Technologies, which will present its battery-operated rickshaws and motor scooters, otherwise known as zero emission vehicles, as well as an innovative range of waste-management solutions.
"Over the past three years, we have focused much attention on India’s healthcare needs," said Robert Krakowiak, Australian Business Ltd’s Senior International Trade Manager and organiser of this month's mission.

"During this time we have come to realise that many opportunities exist in providing environmental products and services."

As part of the Trade Mission to India, several Australian companies will offer expertise in healthcare and environmental products and services. The focus of the mission will be on developing government and industry cooperation in environment management and to foster partnerships to benefit both countries.

Australian Business Limited (ABL), a long-time supporter of Australia-India business links, has promoted Australian health care capabilities in India for a number of years.

"Seminars to be conducted in each city will feature high-profile speakers from both India and Australia who will speak on the needs and solutions for improving India’s environment management", Krakowiak said.

The Trade Mission to India is supported by the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce in Chennai, Dignity Foundation in Mumbai and SS International, Hyderabad.
