Australian films at the Pune International Film Festival

As part of a major cultural promotion in India, AusArts India: film, arts literature, the Australian Government is pleased to present a selection of major films, titled Australian Reflection, at the Pune International Film Festival from 12-19 January.

"Australia and India have many things in common including our love of film . Both countries have dynamic and vibrant film industries which are renowned internationally and have delighted audiences with their distinctive styles and stories," said the Australian High Commissioner to India, John McCarthy.

“Australia's participation in the Pune International Film Festival presents an opportunity to experience a snapshot of the diversity of Australia and Australian life and we hope that audiences will enjoy them," added Mr McCarthy. Mr McCarthy is attending the opening of the Pune Film Festival which will feature an Australian film, Japanese Story, as the festival’s inaugural film.

Cu rated by the Australian Film Commission the Australian Reflection section of the festival showcases some of the most significant features and shorts produced in Australia in recent years, by such prominent directors as Sue Brooks, Paul Cox and John Winters - who will also present his film, Doing Time for Patsy Cline.

The festival will showcase Australian films ranging from comedies to hard-hitting dramas to poignant love stories . Award winning films such as Human Touch will be featured along with Academy Award winning short Harvey Krumpet and Palme d’or best short film winner at Cannes 2003, Crackerbag.

The Australian Government is proud to present this selection of Australian cinema which shows the diversity and excellence of Australia's film industry. The features and shorts chosen to screen at the Pune International Film Festival are:
