High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell's visit to Uttar Pradesh
High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell concluded his first official visit to Uttar Pradesh, where he met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state ministers and government officials to deepen economic engagement particularly on roads and infrastructure, water and skills development. High Commissioner also attended the Ganga Aarti at Varanasi’s Tulsi Ghaat, enjoyed a boat ride and witnessed the famous silk-weaving technology in a Varanasi village.
He also visited our local NGO partner SMFCleanGanga, who are empowering the community - especially women - through their Water4Development initiatives. His visit to Australian artist David Hooke’s mural in Varanasi and to the grave of Walter Burley Griffin, the architect of Canberra, who is buried in Lucknow, celebrated Australian linkages with Uttar Pradesh.
