High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell's visit to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell concluded his first official visit to Andhra Pradesh - a state of growing commercial and strategic importance under the Australia India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The High Commissioner met Chief Minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, opposition figures, government officials and business representatives to advance trade and investment links, particularly in critical minerals, education, health, and technology. He also met the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command to discuss our strategic and defence ties, and the team behind an innovative healthtech collaboration between the University of Wollongong and the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone.
In Telangana, High Commissioner met Minister of IT, KT Rama Rao, and discussed partnerships in education, health, technology and mining. He also joined the Minister to announce a new partnership with WeHub Hyderabad - ‘UpSurge’ - a pre-incubation program for 240 women entrepreneurs. He also held a virtual meeting with the Governor, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.
