Industry professionals from SIMTARS –the Safety in Mines Testing and Research Station are currently in India for the Indian mining legislation roadshow.

The workshops will focus on the impending Indian mining legislation and the steps required for the successful implementation of it.  This legislation is based on the current Queensland legislation, which has been in place for more than 20 years.

Dr Tilman Rasche is delivering workshops about the history of mine safety and risk management, the new legislation and its risk-based approach, and how to apply risk-based legislation in a systematic framework.

This initiative is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-India Council.

The first workshop was held in Delhi. The roadshow will also travel to several other cities.
