Indians top recipients of Australia’s 2016 Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships

Indian scholars have been more successful than students from any other nation in winning Australia’s prestigious Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships.

The Australian High Commissioner to India, Patrick Suckling, today announced that 59 Indians will be offered the awards in 2016 – more than 10 per cent of the total intake.

Five Australians have also been selected to travel to India through the program.

“I congratulate the successful Indian and Australian Endeavour recipients for 2016,” Mr Suckling said.

“This demonstrates the depth of talent among India’s incredibly gifted student cohort, and the growing connections between India and Australia.”

Endeavour provides an opportunity for awardees to develop networks with leaders in their fields from Australia and around the world. The recipients can undertake study or research at vocational, postgraduate, and postdoctoral level or undertake professional development at some of Australia’s most prestigious universities across a broad range of academic fields.
The awards are internationally competitive and merit-based.

A total of 500 Endeavour awards have been offered to international students in 2016 and another 198 were offered to Australians to undertake study or research abroad.

Applications for the 2017 Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship round open in early April 2016 and close on 30 June 2016.
